Meet the Leadership Team

At Cornerstone Church we value relational Biblical leadership, and encourage anyone in the church community to be bringing thoughts and ideas to the leadership team regarding how we can be encouraging and equipping the church to be serving Christ Jesus.

In any leadership meeting, we hear from God’s Word and then aim to put this into action through genuine and authentic relational discussions as we work together to bring God glory and see him working through the church in His mission of bringing people into His kingdom, though salvation in Jesus Christ alone.

The job of the church leadership is to serve the Lord Jesus and His people in the governance and practicalities that support the spiritual health and growth of the church. There are a number of different elements to the leadership team, which we hope are helpfully explained below.

Rev John Parker
Pastor

“I came to know Christ as an 18-year-old Biology student. When I’m not working at preaching God’s Word and pastoring His people, I love spending time with my wife Mim, our three grown up daughters, and Pippin the dog. I continue to enjoy nature through fishing, gardening, walking and canoeing.”

Dave Taylor
Elder

“My wife and I have two children, plus two cats. Healthcare education is my field of work, and any spare moments are spent watching sport (mainly football, cricket and F1). I’m passionate about relational church leadership and good communication within the church, as well as ensuring that good governance supports the work of the church.”

Tom Owen
Deacon

“Spending time with my wife, Rachel, and our two amazing daughters is especially important to me. My hobby is endurance walks and taking in the beautiful countryside and scenery, admiring God’s creative hand. When at home, I love to watch F1 and spend time in the garden.”

Sam Carbonero

“I spend a lot of time in the world of music and playing violin. My hope in leading the music at Cornerstone is that it will glorify God and serve the church family in their worship. I enjoy food, creative projects and modern board games. I don’t take myself all that seriously, and am particularly grateful for the church community.”

Mim Parker

“I’m married to John, have three adult daughters, and am a Maths teacher. I love a decent cup of coffee, so meeting up with family or friends in a coffee shop is one of my favourite things to do. Leading the Women’s Ministry is encouraging as I see God at work in the women of our community, helping us to trust Him through the ups and downs of life.”

Hannah Taylor

“I became a Christian in my 20s after doing a Christianity Explored course, and I enjoy serving the church family in a variety of ways. I’m married to Dave, and our two girls keep me busy! I also work as a Researcher in local government, and I really like tea… preferably Earl Grey.”

Rachel Owen

“I am married to Tom, and we have two wonderful daughters – we all love being part of the church family. I’m on the Cornerstone Kids team and I manage some of the admin for the church. When I’m not working, I love to spend time with my family creating new memories, as well as meeting up with friends for food or coffee.”
