Location

We gather from 9:30am at the Rovers Tye pub.  There is plenty of parking. You will know you are in right place when you see our flag, which is just near the main entrance.

Welcome

As you arrive inside the pub, there will be someone from the church to welcome you. You will notice the toilets on the way in.  If you would like to let us know you are planning to come, do email and we can answer any questions you may have.

Breakfast

From 9:30am tea/coffee/juice and a light buffet breakfast are available.  Up until 10am, we eat, chat together and find a pub table to sit at.  It's very relaxed and sometimes a bit chaotic!

Service

Our more structured time together is from 10 - 11:15am. Our service has a relaxed feel and you can join in as much or as little as you want. No two Sundays are the same, but we do many of the things Christians have been doing for over 2000 years. Read on to find out more...

Music

We have a music band and sing songs with a variety of styles, both contemporary and traditional. To hear songs we have sung recently, do listen to our Spotify playlist.

Kids

Children are so welcome at Cornerstone Church Colchester. The relaxed feel of our services helps parents to relax a bit too! We are all together for about the first 10 -15 minutes of the service, during which time there is a short talk and song particularly appropriate for younger ones.

Kids groups

In the corner of the pub (just within ear-shot) is an area used for the kids groups.  The Bible teaching is continued through games, crafts and discussion.  All leaders of kids groups are DBS checked and we also have leaders with paediatric first aid training.

Parents/carers need to complete a registration form on arrival.

Sermons
& Prayer

We read God’s word and hear it preached, knowing he wants to speak to us. Our sermons are usually expository, meaning we will go through a book of the Bible, passage by passage, over successive weeks.

We respond to God's word by praying; one of the church family will lead this time of prayer.

Time to chat

From 11:15am, we stay to finish off the leftover breakfast!  From conversations about the sermon, to catching up together, there is always much to talk about. Then it is a mad scramble to pack away, ready for the pub opening to the public at 12 noon.

Once a month, we have a fellowship lunch together in one of our homes, followed by the Lord's Supper.
